Sunderland 1 v Leeds United 1
Both sides were promoted to the Premier League last season with Sunderland having a standout year, undefeated at home so far. Leeds United after a tricky start are beginning to find their feet with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in great recent goalscoring form.
In the last match of the year for both teams, fans at the Stadium of Light were treated to an entralling game.
Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra opened the scoring for the Black Cats in the 28th minute, his first goal since joining Sunderland. It was a moment of real quality created by captain Granit Xhaka that gave Régis Le Bris's side a deserved lead after a bright start, with Brian Brobbey later rattling the crossbar just before the break as the hosts pushed for further goals.
Leeds grew into the game as the half wore on, with Ethan Ampadu and Anton Stach prominent in midfield, but they went in at the interval trailing by a goal.
Leeds came out with renewed purpose after the restart, and it took just two minutes for them to level. In a great display of teamwork, Leeds produced one of the standout goals of the Premier League season so far - a move involving all 11 players (only the second such goal in the league this campaign). Dominic Calvert-Lewin converting at the end of it from a cross by Brenden Aaronson. The goal extended Calvert-Lewin's scoring streak to six consecutive Premier League games - the first Leeds player to achieve the feat since John McCole in 1959-60.
