WBA U21s beat Luton Town U21s 4-3 in a crazy Premier League Cup match at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham to top Group E ahead of Brentford, Exeter City and Luton.

Goals from Souleyman Mandey (2), Deago Nelson and Michael Parker secured the win despite the hosts having keeper Brian Onkonkyo sent sent off just before half-time. Luton's goals came from Jack Lorentzen-Jones (penalty), Harry Fox and the Italian centre-back and Hatters' captain Vladimir Pasternoster.

Alexander Stadium

Alexander Stadium is the largest athletics stadium in the UK and staged the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the athletics and para athletics competitions. Facilities include a Gymnastics & Martial Arts Centre and 3G artificial turf pitch. It first opened in 1976 and has four stands with a total seating capacity of 18,000. It was redeveloped in 2020 in preparation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Alexander Stadium will stage the 2026 European Athletics Championships, the first time the championships will be held in the UK. Both West Bromwich Albion F.C. Women and the WBA U21s play at the ground.

Access - Getting There

Take the train to Perry Barr Station (from where it is a 20-minute walk) or alternatively buses 51, X51 and 52 to Perry Avenue. From Perry Avenue it is less than 10 minutes on foot to the stadium. In addition, buses 33, 907, 907A, 934, 935, 936, 937, 937A and 997 leave from a number of stops around Birmingham city centre. Get off at Perry Park then a 15-minute walk.
