Electrifying a crowd of 38,176 spectators, Bayern Munich triumphed over Aston Villa with a final score of 2–1, securing a winning start ahead of the new season.
The pre-match proceedings opened with an official handshake ceremony officiated by distinguished guests, including Ms. Rosanna Law, JP, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Lin Yi, Executive Director of KuoKai Sports; Mr. Zhou Quanqing, Managing Director of KuoKai Sports; Mr. Pui Kwan-kay, SBS, MH, President of The Football Association of Hong Kong, China; Mr. Eric Fok, BBS, JP, Chairman of The Football Association of Hong Kong, China and Mr. Brian Yeung, Managing Director of Scramble Events.
In the 37th minute of the first half, Bayern Munich earned a free kick on the left flank. Kim Min-jae met Tom Bischof's cross with a close-range header to break the deadlock, giving Bayern a 1–0 lead at half-time. In the 28th minute into the second half, substitute Luis Diaz shook off his opponent inside the box and fired home a powerful shot to double Bayern's advantage.
Trailing by two goals, Aston Villa mounted a fierce fightback, and in the 38th minute of the second half, João Gomes pulled one back with a long-range strike from just outside the box. In the end, Bayern Munich defeated Aston Villa 2–1.
