Shanghai Shenhua are the perennial underachievers of the Chinese Super League. Despite their years of lackluster results and disappointment on and off the field, Shenhua supporters are known to be amongst the most passionate in China.
Shenhua's home stadium is the famed Hongkou Football Stadium.
The stadium is one of the oldest mainstream sports facilities in China and the original design was built in 1955.
With the growth of Chinese football, HongKou was renovated and modernized in 1999.
The newer 'HongKou' was designed specifically for football and with football fans in mind.
The stadium has also played host to major matches like the final of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The stadium is quite easily accessible and fans can take a bus from Hongkou Football Stadium or take the subway to Hongkou Football Stadium station.
