Inter Miami's trip to Hong Kong will long be remembered for the recriminations and repercussions off the field rather than the actual match.
The much hyped game had marketed Lionel Messi as the 'star' attraction with fans in Hong Kong and from abroad eagerly hoping to see the Argentina World Cup winner in action.
As the actual game progressed and the time ticked down, it became clear that Messi would not play and the initial excitement in the crowd soon turned to fury as boos and jeers greeted the end of the game with the repercussions still being felt as of today.
Lionel Messi has since discussed the reasons he did not play.
Inter Miami play Vissel Kobe of the Japanese J.League on February 7th.
Inter Miami defeated a Hong Kong League XI 4-1.
