PSG Academy HK GBA Invitational Tournament on 25th May 2024
The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Academy HK proudly announces the successful conclusion of its first-ever PSG Academy HK GBA Invitational Football Tournament, held on May 25th, 2024, at the Christian Alliance International School HK (CAIS). This prestigious event brought together exceptional young footballers from across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), including Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangdong, showcasing their remarkable skills and unwavering passion for the sport.
The PSG Academy HK GBA Invitational Football Tournament captivated spectators and participants alike, with a remarkable turnout of almost a thousand individuals in attendance.
Particularly, matches were attended by players from diverse origins, including 170 players from Hong Kong, 100 players from Macau, and 60 players from Guangdong, highlighting the inclusive and diverse nature of the games. The competition is conducted according to the different age groups from U7 to U13. Each group identified individual prizes for best goalkeeper, best scorer, and best player in addition to the championship team.
Yannick Ngassa, CEO at the Paris Saint-Germain Hong Kong & Macau, expressed his enthusiasm for the event during the opening ceremony, stating, "The PSG Academy HK GBA Invitational Football Tournament stands as a testament to PSG Academy HK's dedication to youth development and the promotion of football talent in the GBA region. Commendation for the First Hong Kong Elite Team at the PSG Academy World Cup in Paris The PSG Academy World Cup in Paris is an esteemed annual event that brings together over 500 players from 22 countries, offering participants the unique opportunity to compete at a high level, meet PSG's distinguished stars, and experience the splendor of Paris. Only the most elite players are selected to compete and train in Paris each year.
This year, PSG HK Academy proudly sent 20 elite players (19 boys and 1 girl) from the U11 and U13 categories to participate in the competition for the first time. Competing alongside strong teams from Brazil, the United States, Canada, and others, the Hong Kong team distinguished themselves with a notable 5-2 victory against South Korea. Reflecting on the experience, the players expressed their honor and pride in participating in such a prestigious event.
One player remarked, "I am honored and proud to participate in this grand event. I have met many like-minded peers from around the world during this trip. Thanks to our coach's meticulous guidance and training, we were able to perform at our best on the pitch."
