Fifa's World Rankings for July 2026 were released in real time from FIFA HQ in Zurich in Switzerland on the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.

Spain, the new World Champions, top the list followed by 2022 World Cup winners Argentina who Spain defeated 1-0 in a fractious final in New York/New Jersey. France are third. England are unchanged in fourth. The two teams met in the 3rd/4th place playoff with England winning 6-4.

Next comes Brazil, Morocco, Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands, then Mexico in 10th. Colombia are 11th, with Germany 12th. Croatia are 13th, Switzerland 14th with Euro 2020 winners Italy, who did not make the 2026 finals, down to 15th, the USA are in 16th place up one, Senegal are in 18th.

Wales are 38th.

Australia are in 28th place down one; Japan, who had good form going into World Cup 2026, are in 17th position, up one place. Norway are the biggest movers up 12 places to 19th. South Korea are 32nd, down seven places, after a disappointing tournament.

Scotland who qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 are still in the 42nd spot. The Republic of Ireland are in 55th place up three, while Northern Ireland are in 70th unchanged. The lowest-ranked team is San Marino in 211th place.
